State of manhood

When one has children one has to stop being a child. Although it may sound cute and modern, any adult worth their claim for respect should understand that I am not going to defer to their child for advice on career choices, purchases beyond toys and some clothes. However, it is ever more prevalent that one may observe adults that are physically larger copies of their children. They are given over to impulsiveness, irrational emotions that are used to get their own way with an ever ready sense of entitlement. Metroman, metrosexual or whatever these testosterone depleted individuals are called are the new man. Inclusiveness has replaced “man of the world”, which implied being aware and learned of all that life has to offer and being able to navigate those aspects. Sensitive has replaced awareness, butch has replaced machismo, and assertive (bullying) has replaced strong.

Sadly during this time of war the time of adult responsibility has been replaced by the need to pretend in confusion to be a man.

They assert themselves by being bullies; these fellows do, as an act of fake manliness but have no qualms about jumping into a car in the midst of a storm and leaving their girlfriends and wives to fend for themselves against the elements, instead of getting the door for them. “It is after all equal rights for all,” they sniffle to themselves.

They go home and play with their PS3’s etc  and moan that they are having casserole again. They rather go on Facebook to get advice for their kids and or relationships than speak to the kids or wife and have to always respond to their cell phones beck and call. By wiring something into their ear they magically become modern and “with it”, only to fall apart at the smallest aggravation. At the end of day the wife or girlfriend is still in charge of them because they can see right through their façade of manliness and thus the night settles on a mere shadow of manhood.

Welcome

Are you encaged or engaged?

The modern westernized world presents a challenging landscape formen.  Unfortunately, we are losing ground, as well as ouridentity.  The lack of role models, a consistent message, and time withother men are a few of the things contributing to this situation. Traditional male roles, drives, and challenges are being erased fromsociety, or taken over by females.

The result of this is men living in cages.  Much like a cagedanimal learning trained responses to earn their dinner. Doing what theythink is expected of them and waiting for approval.  Failing to engage, evaluate a situation, make a decision, have a presence, and own space.

Grown men now spend time playing video games, andletting others make their decisions for them.  This veryconfusing.  The idea of building your own little piece of the world isslowly slipping away.  Instead "men" hope to be described aship, or cool.  These should be the desires of boys.  Exactly what a lotof men have reverted to.

This is not the life of a gentleman.  Think of our grandfathers generation.  What were they concerned with?  What mattered to them?  How did they conduct themselves?  Were they concerned with being looked at as "cool" by others, or taking care of and providing for their family?  A much simpler life rooted in time tested core values.  A life that did carry with it a 60% divorce rate, or confused 40 to 50 year old males acting like confused children.

This is a broad introduction to what will be discussed on thissite.  The discussion will focus on being not only a man, but a gentleman.  It will be done through articles and discussion on manhood and their relation to current events.  So, whatever yourgender, please be an active participant in this forum.  Share yourthoughts, experiences, and opinions if they are intelligent and wellprepared.  If you are one of the "men" described above we wouldappreciate hearing you try to defend the direction of your life.
